Rockin around the christmas tree in my fabulous new boots!

Christmas was great I got many things I love dearly and few things I'm no truly in love with (see pic below).

Knowing me very well Jeff got me a case of steaks which now has started our very own family tradition of steak and eggs xmas morning and combined with my old tradition of champagne toast xmas morning...I can't wait til christmas morning next year! LOL!

He also got me my very own pass to Six Flags Magic Mountain which is all of 3 exits up the highway from ours...YAY ROLLER COASTERS!! He also planned us a date night for me to cash in on when I please! I got lots of other very cool things from family and some other things I am very much in need of.

But one item in particular I did not expect to get and can not wait to share with the world. (See I showed Jeff them a month or so ago and he sent the email to mom that inturn ordered them and tada!)

ADDED TO MY FAB SHOE SECTION OF THE CLOSET ARE THESE AMAZING BOOTS.....TAKE A LOOK!!!

Sweet Dreams

Dear Mr. Sleep:

I'm sending this letter in hopes to end our lifelong war as friends. I think we started off on the wrong foot by my rude action of not paying you any attention. Therefore requiring you to retaliate and not visit me when I most need your attention.

As a truce I promise to commit more time to you if you will do the same to me. 2010 is going to be a great year for us to renew our friendship.

Please read this letter.."sleep on it"....and get back to me by the first of the year. I miss you and need you back.

Sweet Dreams,
Jamie

Unconditional Love

Unconditional love is a term that means to love someone regardless of one's actions or beliefs. It is a concept comparable to true love.

Owners of pets have unconditional love for their little ones. No matter the mix, the behavior or the crooked teeth...we just love our little babies unconditionally.

Just thought I'd post some pics of some loveable friends.

And my favorite:

?

Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting the bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian.

Def has a good point this little statement here.

Key Lime Cupcake Dreamland

For about a week now I've been randomly craving a key lime cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Today I decide to give in and hunt one down....I can not locate one anywhere, not even all the way down in L.A.

Is this sooooo weird that even custom cupcake companies don't carry them...WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO???

This girl is gonna make her own....maybe just maybe it will catapult a nationwide craving for these wonderful little gems and I'll make it rich on key lime cupcakes.

Oh what a dreamy world it would be if filled with key lime cupcakes....big ones, little ones, minis...maybe Santa Clarita, CA will become home to the WORLD'S LARGEST KEY LIME CUPCAKE and I will forever be remember by the key lime cupcake pageant and festival that will continue on til eternity.

I gotta get going on designing my very first key lime cupcake shop....stay tuned for one opening in your area. :)

Thanks Carter!

My previous trainer and current life motivator Mr. Carter Hays posted something today that I want to share and pass on...

Billboard for 2010....

If you were a walking billboard for yourself, what would you be promoting and striving to succeed in 2010.

I strive to be more fully and truly committed to getting into figure competitions or atleast close enough, improving my faith, and being a model of motivation for others in all aspects of life. I want to live and breath my motivation and improve life for others, my family and myself. Volunteer more, give more, and share more.

Your turn!

Hair of the DOG

I knew the meaning, knew the reasoning, never knew the origination of that saying...my friends say it all the time so I looked it up....

Hair of the dog is a colloquial English expression predominantly used to refer to ingestion of alcohol as treatment for a hangover. It is occasionally used with respect to dealing with the aftereffects of use of other recreational drugs. It is a shortened form of the expression “the hair of the dog that bit you.”

Instances of the phrase have appeared in English literature since the time of William Shakespeare. Ebenezer Cobham Brewer writes in the Dictionary of Phrase and Fable (1898): "In Scotland it is a popular belief that a few hairs of the dog that bit you applied to the wound will prevent evil consequences. Applied to drinks, it means, if overnight you have indulged too freely, take a glass of the same wine next morning to soothe the nerves. 'If this dog do you bite, soon as out of your bed, take a hair of the tail in the morning.'" He also cites two apocryphal poems containing the phrase, one of which is attributed to Aristophanes. It is not known whether the idea of like curing like with like, or the practice (which may have other psychological causes) came first. Certainly it is possible that the phrase was used to justify an existing practice. It is also possible that the modern use of the phrase arose as a metaphor for that idea and did not have a former basis in practice.

The phrase is also used in a more general context to mean "a little dose of something which caused your problems in the first place," can be used to cure the problem. The phrase may have some roots in the Latin phrase Similia similibus curantur ("like cures like").

The phrase also exists in Hungarian, where the literal translation to English is "(You may cure) the dog's bite with its fur", but has evolved to a short three word phrase ("Kutya harapást szőrével") that is used frequently in other contexts when one is trying to express that the solution to a problem is more of the problem. Among the Irish and Mexicans, the phrase 'The Cure' ("curarse la cruda", in Spanish) is often used instead of 'hair of the dog'.[1] It is used, often sarcastically, in the question "Going for a Cure?"

A Soldier's Christmas Poem

I'm such a patriot! This gripped my heart and soul! Please share....

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
'SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY! COUNTRY, MY CORPS.'

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, 'CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE.'

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
'MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT.'

This poem was written by a Marine.

The following is his request. I think it is reasonable.....

PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending
this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming
soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men,
women, and Canadian Forces for our being able to celebrate these festivities.
Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we
owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and
dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your
small part to plant this small seed.

THANK YOU BOBBY!

Holiday Overeating fix

I have a theory...lets see how it works

To help eliminate the always expected overeating at the upcoming holidays here is a workout plan to help you physically eliminate the ability to overeat. Now for some of you nothing will get inbetween you and those extra plates of yummy goodness, but for those of us that absolutely HATE the "expected" overeating, the "accidental" overeating or the, "what you don't like my...." overeating. Whatever it is try this workout out before all your holiday gatherings (1-2 days prior). I designed it to make holding a heavy plate of food, lifting a fork over and over and repeated standing up to get more somewhat painful (I tried it myself and OUCH! :))

Every exercise should be done a minimum of 5 sets starting with light weight ending with heavy weight and each set done to exhaustion

Leg workout (kill those hamstrings and glutes)
single leg deadlifts
butt blaster
kickbacks (or curls)
hamstring curls on a ball
lunges (or squats)

Back and Bis
bent over rows (single arm) supersetted with bent over rows with lighter weight EZ bar
Seated Rows
Lat Pulldowns
Pullups
Lower back exercise of choice
EZ bar curls supersetted with cable curls
Preacher curls with dumbbells so you can do Hammer curls and standard
Rope curls

of course as ALWAYS add in abs and cardio

Can you feel the burn yet?

Remember each set starts light and gets heavier and is worked til EXHAUSTION!!! 5set MINIMUM per exercise.

Enjoy and Happy Holidays to all!!

Plain foods list...what it takes to make it great!

From a motivating individual under the name chickentuna at..www.bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/chickentuna or her personal website..www.bunklers.com

this is a repeat blog but good for more motivation

Let's face it, health and fitness is not a huge priority for many people...
if it were, there would be more gyms than restaurants and
all the fast food places would go out of business.
The foods below are the foods that make your body look
great, the catch is that they don't taste anywhere near as great as
junk food. Everyone has a different level of what they are willing to
give up as far as eating all the delicious junk food. There is
nothing wrong with eating junk food but just know that the
more of it you eat, the worse you are going to look even if you are not
over weight. It just
comes down to daily choices of what you want, delicious
treats or a great body.

In the picture below, I ate a lot of crappy food I normally don't
eat and also went out drinking for a birthday party.
I was back to normal after a few days but I did not feel good
after eating all that junk.

This is a list of all the foods I eat:
I eat everything plain. (spices and seasonings are fine)
If you are putting
lots of cheese, butter sauces, mayonaise,
fried up breaded coatings,
etc. on everything, you are defeating the
purpose of eating this way so don't even bother
and just try to eat as healthy as you can.

These are all the boring foods that will give you
an exciting body.

This is just a basic list to get you headed in the right
direction if you don't know what to eat. I'm not a
trainer and I have no idea how much you should be
eating, how many calories you need, or what any of
the specifics are on what you should be doing to reach
your goals, everyone is different.
When I first started out, I bought a fitness
magazine and copied a sample food plan from there. Which
one?
It doesn't matter.... THEY ALL WORK, BUT ONLY IF
FOLLOWED!!!
Which means eating what the plan says, and NOT eating the crap.
If you eat as much crap as you can in addition to the plan
you are following, you can keep waiting to see results,
it won't be
happening anytime soon. Most people set out to follow the plan,
and then never do and never see results and then wonder what is
wrong. If you aren't following the plan and eliminating all the crap you
love to eat, you
will always be wondering why you are still in the same place.

There is no magical combination of these plain foods which
will give you instant results. The key is to fuel your body
properly.
I have seen many people come so far as to realize they
need to change their eating habits in order to be fit,
but SO MANY fall into some crazy ridiculous mindset,....
where they believe there is a secret magical
calorie amount or food combination out there that will
produce the desired results instantly.

Overcomplicating can be a BIG mistake and I can't get
over how many people take that road. Fuel your body
properly and step away from eating the crap.

Results take time and consistency.., so don't give up!

Its You vs. You!

Embrace your inner competitor with this statement.

Today during my run I wanted to slow down or stop but I kept repeating this statement in my head at those weak moments to spark my inner competitor. Usually our competitiveness is driven by an actual competition with others regardless of what we are competing for, but to succeed in competition with others you must be able to overcome challenges that you put up for yourself.

So if you want to slow down, stop, watch a movie instead of take a walk outside, eat a pint of ice cream just because or decide to go have a beer instead of going to the gym..remember...ITS YOU VS.YOU! You are the only person keeping you from reaching your greatest potentional in all aspects of your life.

So I challenge you to remember 2 things....

Its you vs. you!

&

We all have the same 24 hours, go accomplish all that you can with yours!

Boxer Pumpkin

We bought a pumpkin and a carving kit and decided to carve our pumpkin tonight. This was my first time so it was def a team effort although Jeff did more of the details cause I have no patience. LOL!

Here are the results...Zeus hates his picture taken so these were fun to try and get. :)

Perfect Date

My hubby told me sunday to be ready at 5:30 and wear something warm after saying I want to take you somewhere really nice tonight for dinner...whats your absolute favorite? Steak of course, which he already knew but wanted to confirm.

So 5:30 he shows up, we leave and off we go driving away from town to an area I've not seen before so i can't even begin to guess what he has planned. As we drive farther and farther away from civilization and the sun starts to set I know we are headed somewhere not including a waiter...he really knows how to set up the perfect date for me. But I didn't know yet what all was to come.

We drive and drive and drive up and up getting beautiful sunset views on the way and on a side of a mountain and out onto a wide area where he backed the car up...ah the view...we layed the seats down in the back set up picnic and watched the city lights, the planes landing and stars come out.....the moon was just gorgeous too!

Dinner included flowers, red wine (my last drink, I quit), steak, hot link sausage, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and my other favorite...cheap cheese and chips! How PERFECT!

We ate, snuggled, and were blessed with a few shooting stars.

I'd have to say it was the most perfect date I've ever had, EVER!

Hunting

Job hunting sucks!

I've been blessed in my life, for the most part, of getting called about an opening or opportunity with a company. So the hunting part never really existed the opportunities just came.

Well the flip side to this whole job "hunting" thing is bull!!

Faithful Friendship, Continual Happiness

There is a lot to be said by a strong independent female about companionship and marriage ----She's an idiot

We all know who I'm talking about here, but thanks to a faithful friend, my husband Mr. Jeff Pacula, this strong independent female now understands blissful happiness and the rewards one can reep from making your true one and only smile. Its an internal glow that only a select few ever get to feel in their lives.

My dad once told me after my mom passed away that every man is meant to have only one true love in his life and that he was lucky enough to have found his. So many never know the real feeling, the real all natural high, the amazing comfort that can be found in the soul of your one true love. It must be in the family....my dad was lucky enough to find his soulmate and I am lucky enough to have mine.

Jeff has been a faithful friend to me for many many years now and has provided me over those years with continuous happiness. I can only begin to imagine the feelings we will feel the rest of the sunrises and sunsets of our life together. This is just the beginning and I can barely grasp how happy I am and how amazed I am to be in this place in my life.

To my husband, my faithful friend, my soulmate - Thank you!

Honeymove

WOW! What an amazing trip. You would typically dread a cross country haul with a 26ft moving truck with a trailer attached to the back hauling an SUV. Well not me and my hubby!

Day 1:
The trip started a tad later than we wanted to, as we approach Bellvue (just 15 minutes from downtown Nashville) the tears filled my eyes. I didn't lose it but sadness was definitely consuming my world at that moment. Leaving my amazing friends is incredibly hard we've all grown so close over the years. Without their support I would not have made it to where I am today and as I've mentioned before I absolutely LOVE where I am today. I owe this great life to each and every one of them.
On to the road......Day 1 was our longest day we road hard to Oklahoma and stayed at Jeff's Aunt and Uncle's, enjoyed conversation and a good nights rest.

Day 2:
Enjoyed a great breakfast and then hit the road in some heavy rain storms. We travelled what seemed to be a very short drive to Santa Rosa, NM. This town was very small, we checked into the hotel and then headed out for some grub. Our choices other than fast food and Denny's were 2 local places..Santa Fe and Joseph's bar and grill. We chose Joseph's. We went in to the bar area and had some drinks ordered some food and were surprised when the manager put a bottle of champagne down for us and said congratulations! :) HOW GREAT! We finished and headed to the hotel for some shut eye.

Day 3:
Today we took a detour up to the 4 corners. I've always wanted to go! Its a very small monument with snocone booths and other small trinkets for sale. We both took pics being in 4 places at the same time.....who said it was impossible. :) I also took pictures of Shoney Bear (who sat in the cab the entire ride with a great view out the window) doing the same and sent the pics to work so they can add to the Adventures of Shoney Bear section of the newsletter. We continued on and landed in the grand canyon right about sunset. GORGEOUS sunset might I add! That great big hole is really HUGE! We stayed at a resort near the south rim, had dinner & wine and relaxed in the hot tub. It was a great great day!

Day 4:
Up early to watch the sunrise over the great big hole. It was very relaxing, the elevation was getting to me so we went back to the room and took a nap until we had to hit the road headed back to Flagstaff and then south to Cottonwood, AZ....where we went SKYDIVING!!!!!! OH wow how amazing it was! Freefall for 1 mile at 120mph and then slow down for the next mile and take in the amazing views of Sedona Red Rocks, mountains, and small canyons. What a rush!!!! It was so much fun. It was a wedding present to me from Jeff and it was something perfect for me. After the amazing rush of skydiving we had to hit the road to Laughlin, NV. We landed in Laughlin and hit the casino floor for a minute. We had a blast at the casino and off to bed.

Day 5:
Up early for breakfast, pack up and head on out to California. The day was short the miles were easy and we landed safely in Santa Clarita, CA.

The Honeymove was simply put ..... PERFECT!

Sweetness

My baby boy finding his way in the middle of the night to spoon up against me with his head on the pillow next to mine!

So sweet!

Sunset Blisters

Yesterday I decided to attempt another run after developing quarter size blisters on my last run because I had no socks on. My test was walking the dog in my running shoes and see if the pain was tolerable, not so much!

Since I was craving a good sweaty workout and unable to run I thought....why not a nice bike ride on the greenway trail near my house, not as difficult as a run, but good enough.

I get to the trail and see the little mountain biking trail and say heck why not so as I'm riding down bouncing on and off rocks, dodging tree limbs and loving it and light bulb goes off in my head....YOU IDIOT!!! Last time you flipped your bike over cause you were trying to show off, how are you going to explain scrapes and bruises all over to Jeff right before your wedding day. So I took the rest of the trail a tad more cautiously.

I thought about hopping off the trail the first chance I got but instead I stayed and to my amazement realized why I had needed to mountain bike yesterday and why I decided to continue. I ended at the lake just in time for an amazing orange and purple sunset. I got off the bike, listened to the water hitting the land and just breathed in. This is why things happen and this is why I'll always remember this sunset and the blisters.

Hungry

Okay so I go get my RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) and a whole body composition test done today.

I have a fabulous Metabolism apparantly and this has caused me issues lately in my muscle mass.

See I went for the test wondering where my muscles had recently dissappeared too, so I got my answer!

I'M STARVING MY MUSCLES AND BODY! Who knew. I eat pretty good and pretty healthy on the regular, but little did i know that just to wake up, get through the day and go home and sleep I need to eat a WHOPPING 2,600 calories. WOW! I knew I didn't eat enough but HOLY MOLY!! If you add in my regular exercise regimine that would add an additional 600-800 calories a day to that amount. AM I A FOOTBALL PLAYER???? NO!!! just a natural born food disposal I guess. Maybe thats why I was so small and compact for so long cause I remember being a complete and total pig that could and would continuously eat all day long just because. Guess i shouldn't have stopped.

So to follow orders I am attempting at increasing my food intake. Very difficult thus far, but I added a good 300 or so to my norm today.

Here's to eating more and losing weight. I LOVE 30! :)

Instant Smart

Well the BIG 3-0 and I met yesterday and I AM IN LOVE!

My 30th birthday month was absolutely fantastic, I'd have to say it was the best one yet!

As most of you know I celebrate birthday months not just days and I am a huge lover of birthday celebrations. 30 creeped up on me, but it did not slap me in the face. I'm as excited as ever and even feel a tad younger with more pep in my step.

The added pep could be because I have amazing friends and family that made sure this birthday was extra special. Here is a list of exciting news and things I was blessed to have enter my special "month"........

Being told I would have guessed 25! YAY!
WOW! You are a hot 30! YAY!
Laptop...even though this is a couples gift for the wedding I'm counting it because it came the weekend of my birthday.
FLIP camera in HD...the coolest little video recorder of them all...IT ROCKS!
My baby flew to town and we had a blast
I got over 60 phone calls, text messages and emails....I've never felt so loved!
Even my best friend Melissa called from China! HOW SPECIAL DO I FEEL!
Amazing STEAK dinner at Mortons, bring on the wine! :)
Pool party times 2...yes 2 in one weekend!
Carrie Underwood, Clay Walker, Little Jimmy Dickens and the Cherryholmes at the Grand Ole Opry
You look great for 30 (which made me wonder how bad i looked at 29 cause I never got that comment once. LOL!)
And the best most meaningful gift of them all was a statement my dad emailed me that came from my mom.....

From the mouth of the most amazingly beautiful wonderful mother to her daughter years after her death.....

"Girls become INSTANT SMART and everything becomes very clear on their 30th birthday"

You just can't top that, but I guarantee I will try every birthday I am blessed to have!

I love you all and thank you so very much for making my entrance to the 30's so incredibly amazing!

Here's to INSTANT SMART....CHEERS!

Facing your fears.....JUST DANCE!

As most of you know I'm nervous as HELL to walk down the aisle. I literally lost control of my breathing and almost puked the last time I stood at the end and looked down while talking to the florist. It has nothing to do with any doubts of my relationship, its just my complete and total fear of commitment taking over. I've ran from it my whole life!

It is something I will face whole heartedly and something I will finally for the first time ever..... DEFEAT!

This video makes me realize that there are options and since I can dance anywhere at anytime in front of anyone WHY NOT dance down the aisle.

I would never actually do it, cause my mom would roll over in her grave and maybe even come up and slap me, but maybe I'll pretend. :) Enjoy!

Cheese

Life without cheese=sadness and gloom.

I was driving around the other day thinking about all the wonderful things in life and by far cheese tops the list.

It can be diced, sliced, melted, and baked. You can dip it! (my favorite) It goes well with wine, crackers, fruits, chips, chicken, beef, salad, bread, eggs and the list goes on and on. Cheese does not discriminate what it must be eaten with, its kind of a whore of foods.

I was curious enough to look up the A to Z's of gourmet cheeses and realized there is much more joy to be had in this life, there are so many cheeses to eat!

Some of my favorites.......Swiss, White Queso, Roquefort, Gouda, Feta, Idiazabal, Drunken Goat, Goat, Camembert, Roaring forty blue, Wensleydale w/Cranberries, White Stilton with Fruit and last but not least my favorite.....Manchego! (I know I left a few out!)

Please post your favorite!

Those that are lactose intolerant....its a shame you are deprived of one of life's most wondeful things. That makes me sad!

YUM! YUM!

First moon walk

You can tell its before he perfected it, but this was the first of many. The unveiling of the moonwalk all the way back in 1985.

It happens around 3:46 in the video, but its Billie Jean so enjoy the whole thing. :)

The King of Pop Dies

MJ - The King Of Pop Dies.

WOW! What sad news to hear. A true icon of music, we grew up with him, have memories of our high school or middle school dances jamming to his music, even on to now we all sing and dance to MJ. Whether it be from his wee years as lead singer of The Jackson 5 to his comeback tours that still keep us all dancing.

There are too many songs to list as favorites but there is one that will always bring the dancer out in me. Please enjoy this song and video.

As I watch his feet slide across the floor in that famous (never duplicated) moonwalk my heart is filled with sadness and my eyes tear up.....for there will never be another MJ!

THANKS FOR THE AMAZING MUSIC. R.I.P WE WILL MISS YOU!!!

Abs

There are many gimmics out there to help you get great abs in 8 minutes, or amazing rips in your stomach without doing crunches.....B.S.!

I have very strong abs, I can do 300-500 crunches a day and not be sore the next, add in roman chair leg lifts or side bends and its an all around ab fest, however D1 has shown me the right way to work your abs and feel the pain the next day. (Ab pain is above all the best pain ever cause its always an area in need of a little help, no matter who you are.)

So yesterday morning I had breakfast and dinner at D1, breakfast by far included the best ab workout I've ever had in addition to all the wonderful things we did.

So to help those in need of great abs here is what we did:

10 sets of:
12-V-ups
12-bicycles (each leg so 24 total)
12-full situps

Then 10 sets of:
12-teeter totters (the most amazing ab excercise EVER, this was my first time doing it, I'm now addicted)....I can't really describe it, must show, maybe you can google it.
12-leg lifts
12 hip thrusts as high as you can

I think it was the teeter totter that got me, but the pain is fabulous this morning.

In addition to that we did a total of 180 different style pushups(regular, diamond, shoulder, mountain climber, clapping, and those swing through ones that SUCK), sprints, jumping lunges, regular lunges, leaping squats backwards, jumping jacks, side shuffles, high knees, suicides and I'm sure I'm forgetting something somewhere.

Here's to killer ab workouts!

WHOA NELLY!

When I describe my car and its many wonderful extras it becomes a laugh out loud session. So I thought I'd share some of my descriptives.

This is what I would say if I placed an ad for my vehicle.

Hot off the line 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. Equiped with 4WD for you offroad, mud or snow lovers, optional starting feature, sing out loud stereo system, disco tech lights inside and out, thrilling brakes, dancing steering wheel, automatic locking feature, classic paint job and years of love.

For those of you that don't know my vehicle let me share what some of these descriptives mean.

4WD - yes it has it, it doesn't work very well in snow, but who cares its there
Optional starting feature - aptly named cause sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't...it actually is a hold your breath and pray kind of ordeal
Sing out loud stereo system - the stereo is not hooked up, so sing away
Disco tech lights inside - all the inside lights like to flash on and off sometimes, its like a little electrical dance party
Disco tech lights outside - I used to have this but fixed the problem. My lights would randomly go off and come back on if I hit a bump. So I would go around looking for bumps to hit at night if the lights went off
Thrilling brakes - cause you feel like you are in theme park ride sometimes when they don't work So sometimes the car gets me from A to B but I slide on through to C. :)
Dancing steering wheel - yes it will dance out of control in your hands at times, usually when speeding up to get on the interstate.
Automatic locking feature - if you slam the passenger door all the doors lock automatically
Classic paint job - its old so I say classic

Now who wouldn't buy that!

Angels Beside Us

This day brings sadness to my soul and that of my best friends. No matter how much you try to keep pain and heartbreak from those you love, sometimes it is out of our hands and we must suffer through together.

No words can ease the pain, time does not heal all wounds, but if we sit and reflect on those we have loved and lost and remember them at their happiest moments....let those moments carry you through the pain with a smile on your face.

I was told once, even though we have lost our loved ones here are earth, may we feel blessed to have had an angel walk with us by our sides.

Here is a poem I edited a long time ago when my mother passed away too early:

When God calls his children
into dwell with Him above.
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love.
for no heartache compares
with the death of a mother,
who does so much to make our world
seem wonderful and milder.
God knows how much we need them
and so He takes but few,
to make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows
will always be "Goodbye".
So when a mother departs
we who are left behind,
must realize Angels
are hard to find.

And this one I found:

Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fear,
For I am in a perfect place
Away from pain and tears...
It's far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side.
My life on earth was very good,
As earthly life can go,
But Paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know...
My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new.

With a heavy heart I pray, may the pain, hurt and emptiness be swept from your soul. Your friends are here for you.

Love you

Perfection is no longer unachievable...thanks Jason Statham

So I was reading Men's Health and came across the article about Jason Statham's workout. Much to my surprise his circuit training is the same thing I do at D1......so with determination and motivation I will strive for perfection. Seeing as how he has accomplished perfection I no longer think it is unreachable.

Here's to perfection:

Statham's Circuit Picks:
Ball Slams
Pick up a 20-pound rubberized medicine ball, raise it above your head, and then smash it down on the floor as hard as you can. Do 20 reps.

Rope Climbs (we do not do these, maybe we will)
Do 25-foot climbs using your arms, not your legs. Aim for five reps.

Pullups (my goal is to do pullups on my own without assistance)
Statham jumps from one pullup bar to another above it; it's called "Dyno.". But the traditional move still works your shoulders and back. Do 8 reps.

Snappers, or Whip Smashes
Attach 25 feet of heavy-gauge rope to something secure, like a fence or railing. With both hands, lift the rope above your head and use a whip-like motion to smash the rope against the floor. Do 20 reps.

Hanging Knee Raises (EASY)
Hang from a pullup bar, bend your legs and curl your knees toward your chest, and then lower them. Work up to 20 reps.

Burpees (we do WAY TOO MANY OF THESE)
With your feet shoulder-width apart, squat, thrust your legs back, do a pushup, pull your legs back under, and jump as high as you can out of the squat position. Do 20 reps.

Bear Crawl (awe yes the bear crawl...we even add weight too these...OH JOY!)
Walk on all fours, facedown, across the whole length of a basketball court. Go up and back three times.

Farmer Walk (we run)
Hold a heavy kettle bell in each hand, with your arms at your sides. March the length of the gym, and then march back. Do 3 reps.

Front Squats
Hold a barbell in front of your shoulders. Bend at the hips and knees until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Then push back up. Do 20 reps. Statham can do five at 1.25 times his body weight.

Rope Pulls
Tie 25- or 45-pound weight plates to a 50-foot length of rope. Pull the rope in until the weights reach you. Do 5 reps.

Weighted Stepups
Hold a kettle bell or dumbbell in each hand, step up onto a bench, and then step down. Do 20 reps.

In addition to the above circuits D1 adds lots of extra fun to our day. See either post named Best Breakfast ever or Insanity yet sane for more details.

HERE IS TO PERFECTION!
For the ever requested diet details from a bunch of you, I will post them very soon.

Best Breakfast Ever

So this morning I made it to D1 for breakfast (see first post Insanity yet sane for more details on D1)

This is what I had in 55 minutes:

Lightest weight allowed 30 (yes I'm a loser and had a 30lber)
150 pushups
150 squats
80 lunges
125 situps w/weight
4 laps and 4 stairs (2 w/the weight and 2 w/out)
150 burpees if you don't know what that is visit for a quick demonstration
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Dq_NCzj8M
100 situps (4 different excercises w/25 reps each)
125 squat(not included in the 150 count above)/front raise (in somewhat of a swinging motion)

Now if only I can accomplish as much the rest of the day as I did in 55 minutes for breakfast it'll be an amazing day!

Pet Peeves

Here are just a few....we all have them feel free to share yours in the comments section.

1)Dirty seats in a restaurant
2)the toilet paper on the underside...it goes on top folks...have you EVER stayed in a hotel
3)The sound of someone eating....I'm surrounded by loud eaters wherever I go out to eat (they are everywhere), dentures are the worst!
Shut your mouth
Chew your food
DO NOT talk til you are done swallowing (your point or input is not that imporant I promise!....and if it is, everyone will wait for you to politely finish your food.)
Here is a note from my brilliant mother....If you can't close your lips when chewing your food you have TOO MUCH in your mouth, take smaller bites.....hopefully the cow is dead already and not going to run.
4)Gum chewing that becomes chomping
5)Smokers cough.....which of course forces the obnoxious statement from my non-filtered mouth...."smoke another one."
6)People that repeat what they just told you over the next 3 days. I GOT IT! Thanks
7)Interrupters although I am guilty of this one...it still irritates me to no end and I consciously work on my efforts to improve my interrupting rudeness.

Those are the ones that top my list.

Part 2

You just have to get to the middle to the booty smack! TOO CUTE!

My new little hero part 1

You have got to watch this kid. I should hire him to dance at my wedding.

Puppies as kiddies

They say you should get a pet to help prepare you for children. I somewhat disagree. See I got a puppy a year ago and have realized that for someone like me (see previous post...I have no patience) I think this is bad advice.

Yes you learn responsibility, caring, feeding, unconditional loving, etc.

HOWEVER.......
1)you can not put your kid in a cage when you are incredibly annoyed or want to leave the house and go to dinner
2)you can not stretch the amount of time your kid is in the cage because you want to leave work and run an extra errand (because you can't put your kid in a cage)
3)you can not put the food bowl in the cage and let them eat at their leisure
4) throwing a stick or a ball for 30 minutes is not the end of entertainment
5)you can not smack your child or carry them by a collar when they misbehave
6)you can not buy one bag of food that lasts 2-2.5 weeks
The list can go on and on but you get the idea. Pets are easy.

So I sit here typing this blog while my dog sits in his cage because mommy has no patience and wonder....what will I ever do when my child has 2 legs (not 4) and can not tell me what is wrong or what he wants.

Patience

A virtue I was left without

The silly little wedding details

For many years I planned weddings for a living. They ranged from small settings to grand affairs. I have experienced and seen most everything you can imagine from the breakdown of the "bridezilla" over sweaty champagne flutes in 90 degree weather or the calm collected couple that really got married for the right reasons but had the grand affair because they could.

As I venture into the planning of my own wedding I have realized just how blessed I have been to have experienced all those other weddings. Here are just a few of the many things I learned from planning weddings:

1) None of it really matters, the church is the ONLY part that is necessary (and a court house/park/other building will do fine too)
2) It will always be about what everyone elses expectations are and never about what the bride and groom really care about....cause they get that at the church.
3) No one knows what was planned except the caterer, the "to-be" couple and maybe the parents or those few involved in the actual event planning so if the plan fails....who cares.
4) It will always work out no matter what is thrown at you
5) If it rains...get wet, if its hot....cool off, if it snows...throw snowballs, if it storms...stay inside.

Here are a list of absolutely necessary items:
Groom
Bride to be
Officiant to perform Ceremony
Marriage License
Proper attire
Rings (or some form that solidifies the exchange of vows)
The will to give, receive and meet in the middle.
To want to love, cherish, honor and respect.
The ability to be yourself always and make yourself better because you have your better half.

In most cases and in addition to the above items you should have:
Friends/Family/Wedding party
Possibly something to eat or drink in celebration and a place to gather for the celebration.

If you have all the above then go, be in love and get married......For Better and For Worse!

Everything else.........just silly little details.

Sadness

Not being able to keep my friends from being able to suffer at all for any reason. I told God when my mom passed away from cancer that I could handle it and that it was ok, but I only ask in return that none of my friends ever have to go through such an awful experience. He is not listening and it makes my soul cry. I never wanted any of my loved ones to go through that, unfortunately they are and I wish there was more I could do.

Nervousness

Imagining the church doors opening and everyone watching me and my dad walk. The only thing in my life that I will ever be nervous about.

Happiness

Knowing that I get to spend the rest of my days with a man that makes my life better than my dreams

Your 24

The reason for the name of this blog...Your 24 is that this has become a vision for me in many ways. A professional business as well as a motivation to share with those I know.

I think it came from something I heard once or maybe I made it up, I really don't recall. But Your 24 comes from the statement.... "We all have the same 24 hours, what are you going to do with yours." I go further to share how can I help you achieve more in your 24 hours.

Maybe just reading the quote will help someone become self motivated to do more with their time, but eventually this blog will turn into my website that I am currently working on a design for.

Go accomplish something with your 24!

Home Sweet Home

I'm currently in my favorite of all places, Home Sweet Home Florida....not Alabama. Arrival to the Orlando airport..ride shuttle....get bag....and step outside into heaven. Yes, heaven. There is nothing to me like stepping into that wonderfully steamy hot Florida weather. Some may call me crazy but it doesn't matter where I go on my travels. Everytime I land somewhere in the state of Florida I get an excitement, one like I did the night before Christmas as a kid or just before I open a present. There is truly nothing like home sweet home no matter where that is for you.

I will always know I'm home by that feeling I get when I'm here. Its something no other place in the world can give me.

I miss you Florida, my Home Sweet Home.

Insanity....yet Sane

While deciding on a new fitness avenue other than my typical 2-a-days which include running and weights or some intense cardio option. I had heard of D1 sports, this a sports specific training facility that also holds boot camp style classes for adults...aka executives. I have friends that attend D1 and always wanted a next level style of workout so I finally decided to check out D1 in cool springs/nashville. With a wedding coming up and some very important photo shoots prior to that I decided now or never, you've only got weight to lose.

For all of you crazies out there looking for the next level I suggest you check out a D1 next to you or try to find something close to it.

Here is a list of things we do almost every class (mind you the class is only 1 hour long):
Stadiums - and lots of them
Bear crawls
Suicides
LOTS of reps of weight excercises..usually 30 seconds or a minute is the time frame
crazy amounts of push-ups mixed in with suicides (my first day i did 235)
crab crawls
dips, incline pushups, squats, lunges, deadlifts, tricep kickbacks (in a one arm pushup position), curls, etc...all the standard excercises intermingled with the extra stuff
stair hops
laps
sprints
tire pushes (the tire IS the devil)...these tires weigh up to 350 pounds and you get to push them against the turf...YAY fun!

Regardless - If you are Insane yet sane like myself----I suggest you try to find something like this.

Its the best thing I've ever done. Reminds me of all those great years in high school when it was all so easy. :)
